// Let us start at the best place, the beginning… what do you believe is the most positive component of how you present, your biggest asset as a speaker if you will?
// Where do you feel you could improve, and why? Is that a personal reflection, a feeling, or a component that’s more deeply researched (EXAMPLE// you’ve had feedback from multiple sources, that you speak too quickly).
// When you have achieved a real ‘in-the-moment’ stage-based flow state, can you describe that moment in terms of where you were in your presentation? Why did you felt truly connected with your audience that moment? What do you think created that connection (and this will often be a collection of critical coalesced components?
// What do you find most challenging when delivering a message to a group? Do you have any specific roadblocks, that appear on the presentation roadmap for you, time and time again?
// How involved are you in the creation of each major presentation that you do? How do you usually prepare for presentations? Are there any rituals or techniques you rely on? PLEASE NOTE: ChatGPT or equivalent is not a ‘ritual’ - the bots will not serve you as you would want.
// When speaking in front of others, what are you most conscious of—your voice, clothing choice, speed of delivery, body language, or content delivery? Why?
//Who do you like as a public speaker? The more diverse choices, the better… especially from comedy. In your opinion, what separates an average speaker from a good one, and from a good speaker to a great one? Can you see some of those essential elements you look for, and feel are important, in your public speaker choices?
// When you look to build a presentation, are you all about the information, or the inspiration? Or you look to try and balance both, when it’s appropriate? Remember, that until Skynet takes over, even if your presentation is about numbers, facts, driver goals, and quarterly review stats - YOUR AUDIENCE WILL BE FILLED EXCLUSIVELY WITH HUMAN BEINGS - so what do you do to ensure that you always sounds like one of those - not just a stage-based flesh unit repeating PDF bullet points, or even worse - presentation novocaine - merely repeating/reading out what’s on a slide with way too much info on it anyway…?
// What emotions or reactions do you hope to evoke in your audience when you speak? Do you have Plan_A, Plan_B, Plan_C? Or do you just want to get through time on stage as efficiently as possible? Do you just feel that presenting is a necessary evil for corporate communication and events? Have you ever felt truly excited to take the stage? Why?
// If you do have different stage ‘game-faces’, how do you adapt your style of communication when addressing different types of audiences (EXAMPLE // big-room - 250+, colleagues, clients, even larger audiences)? Do you feel that you are best in one of these areas, over the others.
// Have you ever given a presentation that went badly? Did you recover somehow? What tools/techniques did you use to get through it? What key elements and personal developments would you like to get from stagecraft, to ensure that this is just a footnote in your presentation history from now?
